Da Wu Health Qigong
Da Wu Qigong is based on simple dance movements of ancient times, blending with the method of Daoyin exercises to rejuvenate qi (vital energy) flow and ultimately enhance joint functions and improve general human body functions.
Da Wu seeks to relax the joints and relieve pain through the flexing and rotation of the joints at the hips, knees, toes, shoulders, elbows, wrists, palms and fingers. Da Wu also uses pulling, stretching, rotating, shaking and rubbing motions to relieve the joints, muscles and blood vessels and their corresponding channels to improve the circulation of qi and blood.
Da Wu exercises are soft, graceful and slow, which produces the external “dancing” movements that harmonise with the internal movements of organs. This integration of external “dancing” and internal organ movements produces great positive physiological effects. This is a “dance “exercise” suitable for people of varied abilities.
Mawang Dui Health Qigong
This exercise set is based on the Daoyin Tu (Daoyin Chart), unearthed from the Han dynasty tomb at the Mawangdui site, Changsha, Hunan Province, China, in 1973, and hence the name of this qigong routine.
These exercises are mainly characterised by guidance along meridian channels and the synchronicity of mind and body. The movements were designed with the purpose of focusing on opening and closing, ascending and descending, rotating and revolving, bending and stretching of the body, its tendons, and bones. Some key features of Mawang Dui as a method of set exercises are its deliberate simplicity and elegant postures designed to cultivate one’s internal and external wellness and prolong life for a promising longevity.
