Relay For Life is a fun and moving experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention and support services.
Relay is a chance for the community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, those going through a cancer experience and their carers, to honour and remember loved ones lost and to raise money to help save more lives.
The Relay, which started in the USA in 1985, and in Australia in 1999, is now a world wide event that raises funds to support research by the Cancer Council.
After a three-year break due to COVID restrictions, Manningham Council plus a team of volunteers ran the 2022 Relay for Life at Rieschiecks Reserve on the 10th September.

Once again, the Doncaster Tai Chi group volunteered to run a Qigong and Tai Chi session for the benefit of both participants and spectators. The one-hour long session was run by Instructors Christina Koh and Bruce Ellis, with strong support from May Chin Lee, Maylin Lee, and Barbara Koh.
Overall numbers were down a bit from the last time the Relay was run, but still managed to raise about $30,000. However, interest in Qigong and Tai Chi was the best we have seen in the years that we have been participating.
It is always very satisfying to give a little back to the community.

Instructor, Doncaster Morning Centre
