2024 August Qigong Master Class

Grand Master Eng Chor Khor held a Workshop at the Maribyrnong Bowls Club on Saturday 10th August. Emphasis was on the Lotus, Shibashi 1, Dao Yin, Wu Qin Xi (5 animals) and Wild Goose Qigong routines as well as the Traditional Yang Tai Chi routine focusing on Levels 1 & 2 and its martial art applications.

The Session started with gentle warm -up exercises and our lovely Lotus Qigong routine. Our Grand Master talked us through the movements focusing on the breathing and stretching benefits of the exercise.

We then moved seamlessly into the Shibashi routine, to the sound of calming/rhythmic music that engulfed us all and we moved as one. Enjoying – Painting the Rainbows Pushing the Waves, Gazing at the Moon etc.

It was at this point the GM Eng Chor emphasized and stressed the importance of regular practice daily and benefits to keep us fit and healthy. There are many Qigong routines that exercise our bodies in different ways.

We progressed to 8 movements of the Dao Yin routine with the focus being on our meridians and activation of our pressure points. Some of the movements were; - White Crane Greets the Morning Sun; Monkey presents Fruit; Elephant Curls its Trunk; etc. finishing with a massage of the face, nose, neck, and ears.

Next came Wu Qin Xi routine - tiger, deer, bear, monkey, and bird. These movements felt light, gentle and fun to do (especially the bear and cheeky monkey movements).

Finally came our Wild Goose Qigong routine. This was more challenging physically and will require quite a lot of practice to execute some of the movements. However, we had fun enjoying – Waking up to the morning sun, flying, diving and feeding like wild geese. All these moves under the guidance of Grand Master Eng Chor.

We finished the Workshop with Yang Levels 1 and 2 and explanation of some martial art applications.

The 3-hour Workshop was attended by 25 participants from several Centres and we all left feeling energized.

Thank you, Grand Master Eng Chor.
