Moonee Ponds Centre

From 26 June 2024, the Essendon Centre will return to Moonee Ponds.

The Moonee Ponds Centre is well-established, with classes held at the Moonee Ponds on Thursday evenings from 6.30 – 7.30pm, and Wednesday mornings from 9.30 – 10.30 a.m. All levels are catered for with Beginner classes starting every 7 weeks.

Our Centre is run by Instructor Joy Muir, supported by instructors Wayne Bradborn, Dave Brogden and Doreen Giannini. Our team is very experienced and we try to ensure that our enthusiasm and passion for tai chi are reflected in our teaching.

Our instructors train regularly with the College Masters (Grand Master Eng Chor Khor and Senior Master Chin Min Lian) to maintain a high standard of proficiency and professionalism. We work hard to achieve our best within our Qigong and Tai Chi practice, and at the same time, are a happy friendly group with a strong social emphasis.

We enjoy teaching people of all ages and abilities, and we encourage students to find ways of working effectively and happily within their own physical limitations. We all enjoy the benefits that these forms of gentle exercise bring to our lives.

A wide range of forms are taught at the Centre, including:

  • Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi (long form), Beijing 24, Tai Chi 42 Forms.
  • Lohan Qi Gong, Chinese Qigong Health Association forms Ba Duan Jin and Yi Jin Jing, Shibashi sets 1 and 2, Da Wu Qi Gong, Wild Goose Qigong, Tai Chi Stick and Tai Chi Ruler.
  • Tai Chi Sword 32 forms, Sword 42 Forms, Broadsword, Phoenix Fan, and Flute.

Instructors are continually learning new forms with the Masters, in order to increase the variety of our offerings.
