Tai Chi and Qigong workshop with Grandmaster Eng Chor Khor
After anticipating this workshop for months I certainly was not disappointed. On 9th August 2025, Grand Master Eng Chor Khor opened with a brief warmup and an introduction to the sounds used in the Six Healing Sounds Qigong. He then explained the variations in movement execution between the different forms of Tai Chi and Qigong.
After working through the Eight Golden Treasures (based on the Ba Duan Jin) and the Yi Jin Jing, we moved onto The Five Animals Qigong. After pouncing like a tiger, weaving silk and stretching what might just be every tendon in my body, we left Qigong for a short while and embraced some of the Chen Man Ching style followed by a group performance of Beijing 24.
Thinking it couldn't get better than this, we meditated either by lying on the floor, sitting in the Lotus position or on a chair, to the calm and gentle sound of Grandmaster Eng Chor’s voice and the subtle tones of background music, drifting off into a meditative state which was both soothing and relaxing.
Upon returning to reality, we were treated to knowledge on some key pressure points, self-massaging on our face, heads and shoulders to aid our health.
The 'energy' component of the workshop was continued with `Tai Chi Pushing Hands' using ‘ethereal force’ as opposed to ‘physical force’. Amazing!
To wind up the workshop Grandmaster Eng Chor demonstrated Tai Chi San Shou which is a two-person form that represents the martial arts application of Yang style Tai Chi.
I enjoyed every minute of the workshop and left feeling regenerated and optimistic. There is always so much more to learn and love on a Tai Chi journey and this workshop has provided more light to guide the way.
Thank you Grandmaster Eng Chor for sharing your extensive knowledge and to those who helped facilitate the workshop.
